Poster Reveals ZTE Nubia Red Magic 2 Gaming Smartphone Coming Soon
For this year, all major gaming smartphones have announced their respective gaming devices. With Asus, there’s the Asus ROG phone. There’s also the Black Shark 2 which is launching today, and the Razer Phone 2. This time around, another gaming phone is coming into the mix – ZTE Nubia Red Magic 2.
Nubia has recently published a poster featuring a robot (having a design similar to the robots from the 2013 movie Pacific Rim) on Weibo. On the post, it reveals that the Nubia Red Magic 2 gaming smartphone is coming soon.
Unfortunately, the company didn’t reveal the exact date of the release. However, we do know that it is expected to be packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with liquid cooling technology.
In terms of memory, it is rumored to feature 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 258 GB of internal ROM. Furthermore, last September, tech enthusiasts Roland Quandt revealed on a tweet that the upcoming Nubia Red Magic 2 will feature shoulder buttons which will definitely improve the gameplay experience.
Nubia Redmagic actually seems pretty nice for 449 Euro with SDM835, 8/128GB and all the other fancy stuff. Btw: new Redmagic device w/ Snapdragon 845 and shoulder buttons is in the works. pic.twitter.com/m64KS9LTfk

For its price tag, it is expected to be around 2,500 Yuan to 3,000 Yuan which roughly translates to $360 to $432. However, this seems questionable because the predecessor – Nubia Red Magic – which was released last April features 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB costs 2,999 Yuan ($436).
It’s hard to imagine that the successor will feature a lower price tag. Unless of course, the company decides to equip it with less powerful specs and features. The way we see it, it would be more believable if it will cost the exact same price or probably $20 to $40 more. But what do you think?
What We Want To See
Last month, we published an article on what we want to see on the Nubia Red Magic 2.
- A better cooling system
- Stronger and better display – outdoor viewing can be a struggle, and dropping it 10cm above the ground could potentially damage the screen.
- Better speakers
- Better design – specifically its slanted back which makes it impossible for flat surfaces.
- Longer battery life
- Red button – this stops incoming calls and the navigation bar from popping in mid-game.
