Xiaomi Mi A2 (Mi 6X) Updated Specs, Release Date, Features, and More
Late last year, Xiaomi offered its diverse fan base the mid-range device Mi A1 (Mi 5X), which quickly became a hit among consumers, gaining a large cult following for its amazing specs and affordable price range. This time around, it seems like the China-based company intends to give fans another taste of this particularly effective balance of performance and affordability through the new Mi A2 (Mi 6X).
First spotted on Slash Leaks, the Mi A2 (Mi 6X) is touted to be the direct successor to the Mi A1 (Mi 5X). This new installment will reportedly upgrade on the last iteration by employing a much sleeker design reminiscent of the Redmi Note 5 Pro. According to current speculations, the new device will sport 5.99-inch FHD+ display boasting an 18:9 screen ratio.
In terms of internals, The Leaker believes that just like the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the new Mi A2 (Mi 6X) will employ Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636. Aside from this, the new device might also come in two variants, the first having a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage capacity and the other with a 6GB RAM and still unknown storage capacity.
Battery-wise, the new iteration will come packaged with a 2910 mAh battery power source that is a downgrade from the Mi A1. To balance this out, it will arrive with Android Oreo in tow, which deals significant improvement to battery usage and power saving. Although it’s still unclear if it will follow in the footsteps of the Mi A1 (Mi 5X) as an Android One device.
On the aspect of photography, the Mi A2 (Mi 6X) will not be any different from the RedMi Note 5 Pro. Several reports believe that the new phone will sport a 12-megapixel dual-camera setup on the rear, which goes in line with its budget-friendly predecessor.
In the pricing regard, Xiaomi will likely want the Mi A2 (Mi 6X) to retain its space in the budget-friendly zone. This means that it will be given a price range slightly greater than the Mi A1 but still affordable nonetheless.
Though still not confirmed, the Mi A2 (Mi 6X) is expected to drop first in China in the second quarter of 2018. After this, a release on the international market will quickly follow.
