Xiaomi in 2018 Launching 5 Smartphones – Features, Rumors and Release Date
Xiaomi in 2018 is looking forward to expanding its market base and is eyeing countries outside of China. The company is extremely aggressive in its approach and will be launching five new smartphones into the market this year.
The five new handsets that Xiaomi in 2018 will release are Xiaomi Mi 6X aka MI A2, Xiaomi Mi 7, Xiaomi Mi Max 3, Xiaomi Comet and Xiaomi Sirius. There have been innumerable leaks and rumors surrounding the range of smartphones that Xiaomi will be launching this year, few of them being an update to their last year’s models. Listed below are the ranges of Xiaomi smartphones to be released this year along with their rumored specifications, features, and possible release date.
Xiaomi Mi 6X
An announcement will be made in Wuhan in China on Wednesday 25 April. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun graduated with a degree in Computer Science from this institute, way back in 1991. Mi 5X, which released last year is the predecessor of Xiaomi Mi 6X.
MI 6X aka Mi A2 will have a dual-camera module with a 20-megapixel sensor. It will be available in five color choices: Sand Gold, Cherry Pink, Glacier Blue, Flame Red, and Black. A 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor will be included for selfies.
Xiaomi Mi 6X will sport a notch-free display with 5.99in Full-HD+ (2160×1080) 18:9 display. It will also have the Snapdragon 626 processor and will be complete with 64GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, 2,910mAh battery, and dual-20Mp cameras. The handset will resemble the Redmi Note 5 Pro a lot.
Xiaomi Mi 7
Xiaomi Mi 7, which will most probably hit the market in June this year, will come with the all-new new under-display fingerprint sensing technology. As per leaks and rumors, this handset is codenamed Dipper and will showcase a full-screen OLED display along with a notch. Mobile lovers will get to see AI-based camera capabilities as well.
Mi 7 is similar to Mi6 that launched last year in the sense that it will include the best hardware, and will cost anywhere under $500.
Further, Lei Jun announced at Qualcomm’s annual tech conference last month that the upcoming Mi 7 will be the first smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 845.
Xiaomi Mi Max 3
The Mi Max 3 is expected to have a bigger display than its predecessor (7-inch tall) with 18:9 aspect ratio. This mid-range phablet will be similar to Mi 6, Mi 5X and Mi A1 as far as sporting a dual-lens camera on the back is concerned. The rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is easily visible. It boasts of a huge 500mAh battery, which is likely to support wireless charging.
The launch date of Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is not confirmed as yet. The device was rumored to launch much earlier. In fact, there were reports of the handset making it to the market in September 2017 as well.
Xiaomi ‘Comet’ and ‘Sirius’
The Snapdragon 710 SoC technology from Qualcomm will be powering two of Xiaomi’s handsets – Comet and Sirius.
Both handsets are expected to sport an OLED display and will run Android 8.1 Oreo MIUI 9 layered atop. Comet and Sirius will run on 3,100mAh battery and will have dual SIM card slots, Android 8.1 Oreo beneath Xiaomi’s MIUI software skin, and an IR blaster.
The devices are likely to be launched in the second half of 2018, and will not include NFC and micro SD card slots. Considering that both Comet and Sirius appear similar, they are likely to be variants of each other.
