After hitting Hollywood, the #MeToo movement has gained quite a momentous in Bollywood also. Over the last few days, many well-known celebrities have been accused of sexual molestation or misconduct by a series of women. One of the names that have been dragged in the on-going movement is of renowned screenwriter Varun Grover. On Monday, Grover was accused of sexual harassment by a woman. An anonymous woman took to Twitter to share the horrible incident with the world. She alleged on the micro-blogging site that Grover had harassed her when they were working on a play together in their college. However, when the screenwriter came to know about it, he denied all the allegations.

Grover has worked on many popular projects in the last few years, one of them being the Netflix Original Sacred Games, based on Vikram Chandra’s well-received novel by the same name. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte in lead roles, the digital series streamed a couple of months ago on Netflix and took the entire world by storm. Apart from outstanding performances by Khan, Nawaz, and Apte, what stood out in the series was its engrossing writing, for which Grover received oodles of praises. Buoyed up by the thunderous response of the first season, Netflix recently announced Sacred Games 2, but there are reports suggesting that the streaming media giant might cancel the season amid sexual harassment allegations on writer Varun Grover.

A well-placed source reveals to an entertainment portal that either Netflix will cancel the entire series or they will drop Grover’s name from it. “In the light of the recent allegations against one of the writers of Sacred Games, Varun Grover, Netflix is considering some options on how to tackle the situation. They may drop the successful web series completely or drop the name of the writer,” said the source. However, an official confirmation on Sacred Games 2 is still awaited.
