What To Expect Of Apple’s Next Smartphone After iPhone X
How about 5G technology? That’s something to look forward to Apple’s next smartphone after iPhone X in the maddening race for better and glitzier smartphone. It is possible that the Cupertino tech company is considering the new wireless technology in the millimeter wave level among other possible new features of its next smartphone.
According to Business Insider, the Federal Communications Commission had already given the Cupertino tech company the green light to test the “5G” next generation technology last July. It could be a game changer in the race for speed. The new technology would allow greater access to bandwidth more than its predecessors like 3G, 4G, and LTE offered by Verizon and T-Mobile.
Less than a year after the launching of iPhone X, Apple is poised to release its next flagship device. Nothing is definite yet but from bits of information circulating lately here are some of the salient features the next smartphone may sport.
The iPhone 11 or iPhone 9 or iPhone X Plus, whatever its name will be, will have OLED panel, which size is for everyone to guess. There are three OLED sizes Apple had ordered from Samsung last year – 5.2-inch, 5.8-inch, and 6.5-inch. Rumors had it that the 5.2-inch OLED display might not push through because of marketability issue.
Apple may completely do away with the headphone jack and its adapter. This is very likely. After removing the jack from the iPhone several years back, a report from MacRumors citing Barclays said the company is likely to shift the next smartphone without the jack adapter in it. It may seem that users who have wired headphones will have to buy the adapter.
Release Date And Price
The Cupertino tech company is known for its extravagance with iPhone X, which turned out to be the most expensive smartphone when it was launched in 2017. This time though the company is thinking of cutting down the price. Apple, for example, is going to roll down a 6.1 inches low-priced phone with an LCD display to be priced somewhere in the range of $650-$750, Apple Insider reported. Other reports had indicated a higher price for the budget iPhone model at $700-$800.
RBC Capital analyst Amit Daryanani had forecasted the price of the soon-to-be-released 6.1-inch phone with LCD display is likely to start at $700. The 5.8-inch phone with the OLED panel is to be priced higher at $899, the report added. It is safe to say, therefore that the price of the next smartphone is expected to be $100 cheaper than iPhone X.
All indicators are pointing that the release date is 2018 of not just one smartphone. Apple is expected to diversify its offering in 2018 with three, not just one, iPhone X-like model.
What’s In A Name
The name of Apple’s next smartphone is not minted yet. There are many likely names to mint: iPhone 9 is possible but not likely, and iPhone 11 is the most logical after iPhone X. As days went on, however, the majority of the reports had it circulating that Apple is considering its net flagship device to be named as iPhone X Plus.
