Nokia locks the 21st of August as the release date of their new smartphone. The announcement of the Nokia 9 smartphone with a teaser tagline that says “the most awaited phone” floated around TwitterThe mysterious vibe behind the Nokia 9 suggests that this would be the new flagship phone of the company. It also suggests that the new phone will be the company’s hope for claiming the top spot in the smartphone rankings.

Under the hood

The newest addition to the Nokia line would feature a Snapdragon 845 SoC and might also feature a combination of 6GB or 8GB of RAM with 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage. The Nokia 9 is also expected to be powered by 3,900 mAh of battery life.

Rumors also suggest that the screen will feature an OLED display. If this is proven true, the new flagship of the company may bridge the gap between Samsung Galaxy S9 and the iPhone X.

Nokia 9 Rumor Mill

One of the biggest rumor surrounding the Nokia 9 is the talked about in-display fingerprint sensor. Although the idea is not generally new since we already saw it in some of the current flagship phones from other companies, Nokia may push this new feature to new heights and might become one of the mainstream in the future market.

One of the landmarks of a successful smartphone in the market would be the quality of its camera. As rumors suggest, the Nokia 9 might feature a possibility of a triple-camera configuration similar to what we see in Huawei’s P20 Pro.

Information that came from past leaks suggests that the Nokia 9 could feature an image quality similar to what we have in Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9. The camera setup might get a f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture and will have a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens and the third one might feature a monochrome sensor.

Nokia 9 Software

As expected to most of Nokia branded phones, the Nokia 9 is expected to get Android 8.1 Oreo from the get-go. However, with HMD Global’s initiative, we can widely expect that this will also support an upgradable version of the newest Android system out there which is the Android 9 Pie.
