The Tesla Model Y is already set to become one of the top electric SUV models in the market even years before its release. This could be because of state-of-the-art technology that will be integrated into the car.

Radical, innovative tech in Tesla Model Y

There are several reports that say Tesla Model Y will get the company’s new “flex circuit” technology, according to Auto Car India. With the new car set to have an advanced electric architecture, there will be much less wiring in the electric SUV. This is because the flex circuits will be used instead of conventional cables.

It is said that the length of wiring in the Model Y will be just 100 meters, much less than the 1.5 kilometers of wiring for the mass-produced Model 3.

Tesla’s ‘manufacturing revolution’

Tesla CEO Elon Musk already predicts that the production of the Model Y will create a “manufacturing revolution,” according to The Verge. From a manufacturing standpoint, Musk describes the Model Y as “incredible.” This may mean that the billionaire plans to boost the automation portion of the manufacturing processes of his company.

Musk could be learning so much from the challenges that he encountered in the making of the Model 3. It is part of the reasons why Tesla’s factory in Fremon, California is still packed as of the moment.

While there is still no confirmation as to how it will look, the Model Y is already being positioned as a viable competitor in the electric SUV race. This means that it may butt heads with the Audi E-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace.

Tesla is currently targeting a 2020 release for this electric SUV. This was said to be confirmed by Musk himself in a call with the country’s top analysts, saying that the Tesla Model Y will be released in 24 months.
