Microsoft Launches Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Pro 6 Ahead Of Apple's iPad Pro 3 and Macbook Air 2018
Ahead of Apple’s rumored October press event for the iPad Pro 3 from iPad Pro 2018 line-up and MacBook Air 2018, Microsoft just unveiled its latest Surface products. Here is a list of the devices unveiled on the event.
Surface Pro 6
On the event, Microsoft unveiled a refresh of its Surface Pro 6 which starts at $889. This laptop/tablet hybrid comes in with a new matte black color finish, an upgraded Intel 8th generation processor, and up to 13.5 hours of battery life.
Surface Studio 2
Another device that got a refresh is the Surface Studio 2 with a starting price of $3,499. It features a 28-inch screen, 50 percent improved graphics performance and compatible with the Surface Dial.
Surface Laptop 2
A new device that was unveiled is the Surface Laptop 2 which starts at $999. It features an Alcantara fabric keyboard cover, a 13.5-inch display, 8th generation quad-core processor and a battery life of up to 14.5 hours.
Another new device from Microsoft is the Surface Headphones which costs $349. Although it is already available for preorders, its shipping date in the UK and US is said to be in time around the holidays.
This new device comes in light gray color and has a number of amazing features. It has over-the-ear Bluetooth, volume and noise cancellation, and battery life of up to 15 hours. In addition to this, it also has an automatic pause and plays feature when taken off the ears and a built-in Cortana support. And lastly, for its charging method, it uses USB-C which takes about 2 hours.
Microsoft introduced the Surface All Access program. This allows customers bundle a Surface device with accessories and Office 365 for $24.99 a month for two years. This program will be made available in the US first.
Another is the app mirroring feature, Microsoft’s attempt in bridging the gap between PC and mobile OS. In this feature, users will be able to cast their Android screen onto a Windows 10 device.
What About Apple’s Upcoming Devices?
The Cupertino-based tech company is also expected to release a number of devices in the second half of 2018 – presumably this month. Among them, the two most popular devices that fans are hoping for are the iPad Pro 3 and MacBook Air 2018.
With the iPad Pro 3, two screen sizes are expected to come; 10.5/11 inches (depending on which rumor you choose to believe) and 12.9 inches. Both variants are said to feature Face ID, an all-screen design with no notch, 4K display, USB-C port, and an A12X Bionic processor. There was also a rumor that it will be ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Meanwhile the MacBook Air 2018, it’s expected to be packed with Amber Lake chips, Touch ID, Retina display, and an addition of the USB-C. As for its other rumors, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that a low-cost 13-inch model is coming. Lastly, there’s a rumor that Apple will be releasing an ultrathin MacBook model.
