Surface Pro 6 'Carmel': Killer Device From Microsoft Coming Soon
Since the release of its 2017 model, there have been rumors, leaks, and speculations about the Surface Pro 6. With that being said, here are the things that you need to know about the upcoming device.
Working On 3 New Surface Machines
According to a report, tech giant Microsoft is working on 3 new Surface devices codenamed Carmel, Libra, and Andromeda. Carmel is said to be the upcoming Surface Pro 6. On the other hand, with Libra, this is said to be a smaller Surface tablet while Andromeda is the long-rumored foldable Surface Phone.
When Is It Coming?
There have been two reports suggesting its possible release date and both points towards 2019 but differs on dates. For Thurrott’s Brad Sams, he notes that the device could come in early 2019. Meanwhile, ZDNet’s Mary Jo Feloy, a known Microsoft watcher, claims that the device won’t be coming until mid-2019.
The Surface Pro 6 is said to have a major redesign. With this, it is expected to be lighter and thinner compared to its predecessor.
How Much Will it Cost?
As for its price tag, it is still unknown how much will it cost. All we can do is cite the previous model’s entry-level version which typically starts at around $799.
An Updated Surface Pen
One of the things that people love about the Surface Pro is its Surface Pen. So it comes to no surprise that the upcoming version is expected to feature an updated pen.
In fact, last February, a patent for the pen was spotted. It features a haptic feedback where it allows the pen tip to retract when pressed against the screen.
Another patent was spotted last month. This time around, the patent shows that the pen harnesses the light from the tablet’s LCD screen to recharge itself while being used
Processor & USB
The Surface Pro 6 is expected to be packed with Intel’s 8th generation processor. In addition to this, the device is also expected to feature USB-C.
