Latest Leak Suggests Microsoft's Surface Phone Andromeda May Still Be Alive
Another leak regarding Microsoft’s long-rumored Surface Phone has come to light. This time around, a Reddit user who goes by the name “silentcrs” attended a Microsoft presentation on the subject of Azure DevOps. On the event, one of the slides carried a reference to Andromeda OS.
The Andromeda OS is believed to be the potential future version of Windows 10. Moreover, it is said to be the operating system of the Surface Phone.
According to silentcrs, he attended a session at the DevOps Enterprise Conference where Microsoft presented on how they’ve shifted Windows development to DevOps. On the event, one of the slides showed was a dependency tracker.
Silentcrs notes that if you look at the second line, there’s a clear reference to test the hardware on Andromeda. However, the presenters didn’t say anything about it verbally.
Another thing that he notes is that its state is “proposed”, not “committed”. What this means is that it hasn’t been committed to any Windows branch yet which suggests that they’re still working on it.
What is Andromeda?
According to Windows Central, Microsoft’s Surface Andromeda is both a software and hardware effort.
In regards to its software side, we have the Andromeda OS. It is supposedly a new and upcoming version of Windows 10 that’s designed to bring the OS to a new category of mobile devices.
As for the hardware side, we have the Surface Phone Andromeda. It is rumored to be an ARM-based foldable handset device that features two displays joined together by a hinge mechanism in the center of the device. It will feature telephony capabilities and come with a pen support for note-taking.
