Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium vs Huawei Nova 3i: Which New Smartphone Should You Buy?
The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium and the Huawei Nova 3i are two of the latest smartphones to arrive in the increasingly crowded smartphone market. Boasting marked improvements over other devices from their respective companies, it is obvious why a lot of consumers are excited about them.
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium vs Huawei Nova 3i
The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium offers an upgrade from its direct predecessors Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. Furthermore, it is a lot pricier than other phones in the same brand, which is why the improvements are clear. In fact, Sony has a lot of faith in it that a lot of media outlets call it a legitimate threat to Samsung’s dominance in the Android world, according to Phone Arena.
Meanwhile, Huawei advertises the Nova 3i as a mid-range phone that is just as full of features as its costlier competitors, according to the Straits Times. While it does not have the groundbreaking triple-rear camera of last month’s P20 Pro, it has enough perks in it to pique the interest of tech buyers.
While both phones present their own advantages, not everyone can afford to purchase the two devices. Below, we will be comparing five features of both the Xperia XZ2 Premium and the Nova 3i to see which of them are worth buying:
The Xperia XZ2 Premium stands out mainly because of its strong camera features. It takes more balanced and realistic images compared to devices like the iPhone X, which tend to create warmer pictures.
On the other hand, the camera is the closest thing the Huawei Nova 3i has to a dealbreaker. This is due to the lackluster picture output in low light.
Performance, Battery, and Storage
The Xperia XZ2 Premium utilizes 6GB of RAM and Snapdragon 845 processor. This means that it is expected to be as fast as the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and the OnePlus 6. The downside, however, is that it only has 64GB of internal storage.
As for the Nova 3i, it has 4GB of RAM and Kirin 710 processor. While not as popular as the Snapdragon chip of the XZ2 Premium, it does the job of performing well. The phone also has 128GB of internal storage.
As far as displays go, the Nova 3i has an ordinary 6.3-inch full HD display. This is nothing compared to stunning 16:9 4K display of the Xperia XZ2 Premium.
Of the two, the Huawei Nova 3i is way cheaper as it only costs $398. The Xperia XZ2 Premium costs more than double that at $999.
Just like other Huawei devices, the Nova 3i has the iridescent glass back that has become a signature look for the company. This is much better compared to the confusion that is the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, which is a bit heavy. It could be very well be considered a phablet due to its bulkiness.
Sony Xperia XZ3 leaked renders
Even as the smartphone fans still reeling from the release of the XZ2 Premium, Sony already dropped a bombshell for its next phone in the lineup. Leaked renders of the Sony Xperia XZ3 shows that the phone will have curved glass. Eagle-eyed fans also see that there will still be no headphone jack for the Sony Xperia XZ3. All these reports will be confirmed when Sony officially unveils the XZ3 to the public in the IFA 2018 in Berlin.
