Sony Shuts Down Rumors Of Buying Take-Two And GTA 6 Will Be A PS5 Exclusive
The Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI or GTA 6) is a game from Rockstar Games that the gaming community has been waiting for years.
Last week, a rumor exploded that Sony is in talks to buy Take-Two Interactive which is the parent company of Rockstar Games. As we noted on our previous report, the information came from MarketWatch who cited Head of Technology and Media Trading at Wedbush Securities Joel Kulina referencing rumors about a potential takeover interest from Sony. This is return made reports to speculate that the highly anticipated GTA 6 could be a PlayStation 5 (PS5) exclusive.
This time around, we have an update about it. And fortunately, it came directly from Sony.
So What Did Sony Say?
According to a report, when Sony heard the rumor about them planning to buy Take-Two Interactive, they decided to shut it down once and for all. The company said that they don’t have plans to buy Take-Two interactive and that GTA 6 will not be exclusive to the PS4 and PS5.
The source of information came from Yuji Nakamura, a Tokyo-based journalist for Bloomberg, who reached out to Sony to find out whether the rumor was true or not.
With Sony’s confirmation, this certainly made Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC fans glad to hear that the rumor was false all along.
But What If The GTA 6 Will Be A PS5 Exclusive?
As pointed out by some, it will certainly boost the unit sales of the PS5 considering how popular the GTA series is. In fact, just with the GTA 5 alone, it already has raked in billions of dollars in profits. However, for Take-Two’s case, if the GTA 6 will be a PS5 exclusive, some say it will be a bad financial decision, as it will exclude other platforms.
