Smartphones With SD 855 And 5G Connectivity Expected To Launch Next Year
Currently, the only announced smartphone that will utilize the new Snapdragon 855 chipset is the rumored OnePlus 7. The Chinese-based smartphone maker OnePlus has officially confirmed that its next smartphone will be the first to feature the Qualcomm chipset. Apart from OnePlus 7, the other likely upcoming devices that will include the cutting-edge chipset will be the Samsung Galaxy S10, the Sony Xperia XZ4, and the Moto Z4.
According to Tech Radar, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset has just been unveiled at the company’s own Snapdragon Tech Summit in Hawaii. This chipset will power a decade of fast 5G speeds, in-display fingerprint sensors, and bokeh-rich portrait modes. It is expected to beat the Apple’s A12 Bionic chips and the prior year’s A11 chipset.
The chipset can do a variety of other upgrades including enhanced artificial intelligence and improved gaming. Its performance will be twice effective over an unnamed 7nm competitor that is in the current iPhone XS. This chipset will also have better antennas to download 2Gbps LTE with the world’s first 60GHz Wi-Fi.
OnePlus’ next smartphone will not be the first to launch with the said chipset. However, many assumed that this device will be the highly anticipated OnePlus 7. This device has been reported to have the latest Snapdragon chipset but won’t be capable of 5G connectivity. The company will be allotting 2019 to release the upcoming device with 5G. This is just in time for its plan its plan to release the first ever 5G smartphone in Europe in partnership with the UK network EE.
South Korean company Samsung attended the summit and is certainly going to use the latest chipset in some versions of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10, its flagship devices like the Galaxy S9 range, and the Galaxy Note 10. If ever the Japanese company Sony will follow the same pattern, the Sony Xperia XZ4 could embrace the chipset and be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2019. Meanwhile, the Moto Z4 is currently in works with the Snapdragon 8150, which is rumored to be the Snapdragon 855.
