Saurik Still Working On Cydia For iOS 11; 'Cydia Installer 1.1.30-coolstar5' For Electra Jailbreak Tool Released
The famous developer behind the Electra jailbreak tool, CoolStar has recently released an updated fork version of Cydia Installer 1.1.30 for iOS 11 jailbreak. The latest release that is named as ‘Cydia Installer 1.1.30-coolstar5,’ doesn’t bring any additional features which users can take advantage of.
However, it should be noted that this 1.1.30 version of the Cydia Installer has no synergies with the original 1.1.30 Cydia launch of the same version number that happened months ago by Saurik. The original release in the February 2017 was an “official” release that brought huge performance enhancements for Chinese users with a bunch of other behind-the-scenes improvements taking places in Cydia.
The latest Cydia Installer 1.1.30-coolstar5 release is based on CoolStar’s own fork of Cydia for iOS 11 jailbreak. Thus, this version has been reportedly launched in order to make sure that no conflicts or confusion take place between his fork and Saurik’s official version getting updated.
As mentioned earlier, those devices which are jailbroken using Electra jailbreak tool, and have the modified version of Cydia installed for accessing tweaks and packages on iOS 11, might be getting and notification for update showing as version 1.1.30-coolstar5. This is essentially an update with a new naming trend and to remove Saurik’s official repo from Cydia in order to avoid any future conflicts between the official version and CoolStar’s own forked version. However, the only disappointing thing is that this release doesn’t bring any additional features to those the users.
Moreover, Jay Freeman aka Saurik has been working on an official update to Cydia and Substrate for quite some time now. However, communications on that topic look to disappeared leaving the jailbreak community with only option to have Electra jailbreak tool for iOS 11- iOS 11.1.2 firmware.
If you are an owner of Electra then you should install the latest Cydia update. Let us know in the comment section below on what do you expect from Saurik’s Cydia update in future.
