Today, Samsung fans might get a treat with the highly anticipated announcement for the Gear S4 aka Galaxy Watch. It is first speculated that the smart device will make its way to the public eyes at Berlin during the IFA tech event. However, there were talks around the community suggesting that the company will introduce the Gear S4 at their Unpacked event this Thursday i.e. today.

A few weeks ago, rumors started to float around the community about the new name of the device from the usual ‘Gear’ branding to a more uniform ‘Galaxy Watch’ which people are expecting to come. To back this up, Samsung also filed a protection in the US from using the brand names like ‘Galaxy Watch’ and ‘Galaxy Fit’ that also points to the possibility of a branding change.

Samsung Galaxy Watch News

A recent post appeared in Reddit that came from an individual named Wan997 suggests new details for new and upcoming Samsung devices. The post also has specific details for the much awaited Galaxy Watch and the user mentioned two variants. The first one comes in with a 46 mm unisex model and a smaller version that features 42 mm in size.

The post also explained other key features of the new Galaxy Watch. The user claimed that the battery capacity of the new version can last up to “7 days” and will get up to “40 workout modes,” which is a lot compared to 10 modes in the Gear S3.

One of the most notable details in the post was the Magnetic Secure Transmission technology. The MST allows a magnetic signal to be transferred from another device, similar to what we see when swiping a physical card for payment purposes. This makes sense since Samsung is known for working with a technology that will be more secure than any traditional payment methods.

It is only a matter of time before we could get the new Samsung Galaxy Watch (Gear S4) and fanatics of the Gear series will have something to look forward to. The company is scheduled to host the Unpacked event this August 9th so we are expecting more details as we go along the way.
