It is not an exaggeration to say that the Netflix India original Sacred Games has gained cult status in India with a massive fan following. It has been almost a year since the web-series hit the compact screens of mobiles, but you can still find people talking about it in awe, praising its gripping narrative and showering adulation on lead actors Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui for delivering such exceptional performances.

After the massive success of Sacred Games last year, Netflix announced its second installment Sacred Games 2, two and a half months since the show premiered on the streamer, with the same star cast with the addition of some new actors. Fans of the series are waiting for Sacred Games Season 2 with bated breath. If latest reports are to be believed, their wait may come to an end very soon because Netflix India has hinted that the release date of the new season will be announced in 14 days with an intriguing tweet. “Calendar nikaal. Tareekh likh le. 14 din mein kuch bada hone wala hai,” read the tweet.

If the tweet shared by Netflix India is anything to go by, the streamer may announce the premiere date of the series in the coming few days. There are also some people who believe that Sacred Games 2 might roll out its first episode in the next 14 days. However, since the streaming media giant has not revealed anything else besides the cryptic tweet, we cannot do much except waiting for what they are set to announce in the coming 14 days.

Sacred Games, based on Vikram Chandra’s best-selling novel of the same name, was co-directed by eminent filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. Sacred Games 2, the second installment of the series, is co-directed by Anurag Kashyap and Masaan (2015) fame director Neeraj Ghaywan. Season 1 co-director Vikramaditya Motwane will continue as showrunner of the show.
