Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro vs Redmi Note 5 Pro Comparison Review

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is one of the top-selling and claimed to be the best mid-range smartphones in India by the Chinese company. Next month, its successor, Redmi Note 6 Pro, will be launched in the Indian market.

Will the Redmi Note 6 Pro obtain the same success as its predecessor? Let’s find out the difference between the two Xiaomi smartphones.

The Price Tag

The Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched on February 22, 2018. Its 4GB/64GB variant costs Rs. 13,999 ($191), while its 6GB variant costs Rs. 16,999 ($232).

As for the Redmi Note 6 Pro, gadgets.ndtv reports that its 4GB/64GB model is set at THB 6,990 (roughly Rs. 15,700). Converting the THB currency to USD, that’s $211.

The Design

For the front design, the two smartphones are identical except for the notch design. The Redmi Note 6 Pro will feature a notch design similar to the iPhone X. Meanwhile, for the back, again, both are identical with the vertical shaped rear camera and fingerprint sensor.

The Display

The Redmi Note 5 Pro features a 5.99-inch display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. As for the Redmi Note 6 Pro, it is said to sport a 6.26-inch display with 1080 x 2280 pixels.

The Camera

Regarding its camera specs, the Redmi Note 5 Pro features a 20MP with LED Flash selfie camera and a (12MP + 5MP) rear camera with dual-LED flash, HDR and panorama. On the other hand, its successor is touted to feature a (20MP + 2MP) front camera with HDR and a (12MP + 5MP) dual-LED flash, panorama, and HDR.

The Platform

The Redmi Note 5 Pro runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and is upgradable to Android 8.1 Oreo. It is packed with a Snapdragon 636 chip and Adreno 509.

The successor, Redmi Note 6 Pro, runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It’s armed with the same processor – SD 636 – but comes with Adreno 509.

When Is It Coming?

According to report, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is reportedly coming in India next month – presumably in mid-November. But if you can’t wait, well, it’s already available in Thailand which began selling the device on September 27.
