PS5: PlayStation 5 Specs, Price, Launch Games and Release Date Reports We Know
As the next generation of Sony’s famed console product line, the PS5 is one of the most anticipated devices in the video gaming world. The PlayStation 5, which comes after the massive success of the PS4, is expected to bring major improvements and changes to how the gaming public plays entertainment titles.
Possible PlayStation 5 features
There is a lot of speculation about the features that will be part of the PS5. These are three rumored features that have a big chance of making its way to the direct successor of PlayStation 4:
If you have not heard of cross-playing, don’t worry as you are not the only one. It is a fairly new movement within the gaming community that advocates for “an increasingly social space,” according to Forbes.
What does this entail? It means that gamers want to play titles with friends or acquaintances no matter the platform. Sony, however, is not on board yet. Cross-playing could be a great feature to introduce in the PlayStation 5 if the company decides to.
Yves Guillemot, CEO of publisher Ubisoft Games, has said that streaming will be the future of gaming, according to PS5PlayStation5.com. It looks like PS5 will be moving in that direction as well. The question now is just how much streaming will figure out into the actual gaming experience.
Improved memory, performance, and graphics
Of course, to justify the release of a new generation of the PlayStation, the next console must bring marked improvements in the graphics, performance, and memory of the device. Moving for a better CPU, GPU and memory is a prime item on Sony’s checklist to finish the development of its console.
Will Sony release a home console/handheld hybrid?
Nintendo hit a home run with its Switch device. Since it already had a minor success with the home console/handheld hybrid, Sony may try it out as well. Whether its own device will be able to compete with the Nintendo Switch is a big question.
Potential PS 5 launch games
Both The Last of Us: Part 2 and Death Stranding could debut late into the lifetime of the PlayStation 4. After that, these games can become part of the PlayStation 5’s launch lineup. Horizon Zero Dawn 2 may also make an appearance on the fifth-generation Sony console.
Of the launch titles, what is sure is that there will be a FIFA game, a brand new Call of Duty and perhaps a 2020 version of Assassin’s Creed, according to US Gamer.
Release date and pricing speculations
As of press time, the safest release window for the next Sony console is in 2021. But if the development of the next PlayStation finishes fast, it could come as early as 2019.
For the price, we have to look at the introductory prices of previous PS devices. It could be in the range of $300-$450.
