That’s why, in the true spirit of things, we’ve rounded up all the upcoming handsets from the aforementioned manufacturers that are sure to take your breath away this year, starting with the Google Pixel 3, the iPhone 11, the OnePlus 6, the LG V40, and last but not the least the Galaxy Note 9. Go and mark your calendars now!
Google Pixel 3
Although the new Pixel has yet to be confirmed or announced by Google, the buzz around the phone is certainly not inadequate. According to the most recent leaks and speculations the rumored Pixel 3 will come in three variants code-named ‘crosshatch,’ ‘albacore,’ and ‘blueline,’ which was initially brought to center stage through a source-code leak back in 2017. This particular trio of phones is also said to be segregated into two categories one being premium and the other high-tiered, however, it has yet to be revealed what these particular tags would mean in terms of hardware and features.
In terms of internals and features, rumors suggest that the Google Pixel 3 would sport a dual camera setup, which will improve its already adored shooting power. On top of this, the new device is also set to arrive with Android P in tow as Google has started developing the software to integrate with the device, Bloomberg revealed in a report.
When it comes to an outing date, albeit unfounded, the Pixel 3 would likely see a similar release date to its predecessors which would put it for a debut mid-October.
So far, Apple has kept mum on the issue concerning the 11th installment of their iPhone. Despite this being the case, many rumors have indicated that the device is indeed in the works and is set up for a release sometime this fall probably in September or October.
Hardware-wise, it’s safe to assume that Apple will be bumping up the performance of the new device as expected of every new iteration. According to reports, the new iPhone 11 will come with a new chip inside, the A12. This new chip processor will make use of TSMC’s new 7-nanometer process, which will remove concerns regarding device mass production.
Surely, Apple will integrate their new FaceID feature inside the iPhone 11. However, Apple could release their own version of the in-display fingerprint scanner further proving their supremacy in the market. On top of this, Apple is also, allegedly, planning to drop the iOS 12 along with the device — a move that’s in line with their traditional reveals.
Another big contender for a 2018 debut is the OnePlus 6. This new device is the upcoming installment in OnePlus’ ‘flagship killing’ roster, which directly follows after the highly-acclaimed OnePlus 5. What’s different in this new edition is that it takes power and processing in whole new level. According to the latest benchmark stats outed on GeekBench, the OnePlus 6 will be faster and more fluid than before, scoring a whopping 2,535 and 8,632 on its single-core and multicore tallies respectively, a score greater than the current Samsung phone, the Galaxy S9.
In terms of hardware, the said handset will come with the latest in Qualcomm’s processing chips, the Snapdragon 845. Aside from this, latest photo leaks also revealed that the OnePlus 6 will sport a dual rear camera setup at the back, a fingerprint sensor, and a headphone jack. The new phone is also touted to receive a new design, which makes use of a textured back panel.
Judging from the OnePlus 5’s market pull-out in the North American region, it’s plausible that the new device will see an earlier release than its rivals. However, OnePlus has yet to issue confirmations so, all we have now are estimates.
The most recent addition to the growing roster of names eyeing for 2018 release, the LG V40 will surely be planning out a strategy to carve itself as a powerful contender in the mobile market. Rumors suggest that this new offering from LG, most notable for their amazing flat TV lineup, will comprise of the most coveted features in present time including a dual camera setup. While details on other hardware parts are still scarce, Valuewalk says that the LG V40 will sport a screen with 4K resolution, however, this development still remains to be seen.
Galaxy Note 9
With Samsung currently standing at the top of the phone game, it’s safe to say that the Galaxy Note 9 is the most awaited device this 2018. One of the more exciting developments regarding the Note 9 is that it’s allegedly coming in two variants, one with Samsung’s Exynos 9810 chip and the other with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845.
In terms of new features, the new Galaxy Note 9 is said to be coming with a triple camera setup, a first in the mobile industry if proven true. This new technology will make use of an additional sensor greatly improving the quality of photographs. Also revealed in earlier leaked renders, the new Galaxy Note 9 will also allegedly employ an in-display fingerprint scanner, a feature coveted by many consumers today. In terms of release, the Note 9 is gearing up for a release sometime before fall, a move to better familiarize potential buyers before the iPhone 11 supposedly drops.
