OnePlus 7/ OnePlus 5G Prototype To Be Presented At MWC 2019, Will Hit European Markets First
Tech enthusiasts are all excited for the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019. During the event, tech companies will be showcasing their products. One of those companies is OnePlus who will be presenting a OnePlus 7/ OnePlus 5G prototype.
But First… Important Note!
Please note that we, 73Buzz, initially thought that OnePlus will release a OnePlus 5G prototype at MWC 2019 which is different from the OnePlus 7 due to this official statement made last month:
“OnePlus, at Qualcomm’s booth (Hall 3 Stand 3E10), invites all to connect and communicate with our community over a 5G network. Attendees will also be able to experience the capabilities of 5G gaming on a OnePlus 5G prototype. Keep an eye out for the limited-edition Qualcomm x OnePlus pin badge, only available at the OnePlus stand.”
However, based on the recent reports, some of them seem to suggest these things, making things a bit vague:
- OnePlus will be presenting a OnePlus 7/ OnePlus 5G prototype, though some also said it will be a OnePlus 7 prototype.
- OnePlus could release a successor to the Oneplus 6T, however, the name hasn’t been decided yet so we can’t say with full confidence whether it’s the rumored OnePlus 5G phone or the OnePlus 7.
- There is also a OnePlus 7 4G LTE version in the works.
But for this article, let’s just assume that the rumored OnePlus 5G prototype and the OnePlus 7 prototype are one. We will also leave out some details that we aren’t 100 percent sure to avoid further confusion.
When Is MWC 2019?
The MWC 2019 is scheduled from Mon, 25 Feb. 2019 – 28 Feb. 2019. It will be held at Fira de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain.
So What’s This Prototype?
According to a report, fresh information surfaced on a U.K. newspaper claiming that the Chinese manufacturer will be using the MWC 2019 platform to unleash a prototype of the OnePlus 7. Moreover, it will also be sporting a radical design.
What radical design? Unfortunately, not much has been said aside from that it will be sporting a larger design and Snapdragon 855 under the hood.
On other reports, they mentioned that the OnePlus 7 will come with a Snapdragon 855 chip and use Qualcomm’s 5G-capable X50 modem.
Moreover, while the 5G phones will be expensive, OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau said in the interview that he wants to keep them under $1,000. Meanwhile, on another report, they noted:
“There’s a definite significant cost difference” between the 5G and 4G devices, Lau says, “but we will definitely do our best to control” the pricing “and we’ll keep the device within $1,000.”
There was also a rumor last month claiming that the Oneplus 7 could come with UFS 3.0 storage. It was shared by well-known leakster Ice universe (@UniverseIce).

He/She then followed it up with a tweet saying, “You can look forward to the Next OnePlus”.
Supposed Leaked Photos
In terms of design, there have been supposed leaked photos of the OnePlus 7 spotted.
For the month of January, we had this:

Meanwhile, this month, we had these:

However, there were some doubts about the authenticity of @Steven_Sbw’s supposed leaked photos of the OnePlus 7. To view the reasons why click “here“.
As you can see from the photos, we can assume that the OnePlus 7 could feature an all-screen design, suggesting a slide-out selfie cam.
When Can We Expect It?
Apparently, the prototype shown by OnePlus at MCW 2019 will first launch on United Kingdom carrier EE and Finnish carrier Elisa during the second quarter of the year.
But what about the 4G LTE version? There was no mention when will it come. Perhaps will it will most likely arrive along with the 5G version? Who knows.
As for its US release, the information is still kept under wraps.
