OnePlus 3, 3T, 5 and 5T Android 9.0 Pie Update Delayed
Bad news for OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 users. They may have to wait a bit longer before they get the Android 9 pie update.
The Delayed Update
Last month, the OnePlus 6 got updated – from Android 8.1 Oreo to Android 9.0 Pie. The rollout came out just 45 days after Google’s release of the firmware. With that, it was really impressive considering the fact that in the past it took around 5 months before the OnePlus 5T was updated from Android 7.1 Nougat to Android 8.0 Oreo.
This time around, OnePlus (5T, 5, 3T and 3) users will have to wait before they phones get the Android 9 update. According to the company’s CEO, Pete Lau, the developers need more time to work on the Android 9.0 Pie update on the said phones.
With this, tech enthusiasts are wondering what’s with the holdup. For the 3T and 3, it’s understandable to some extent given that these phones were released back in 2016. However, the same can’t be said with the OnePlus 5T and 5, because they were just released last year and the OnePlus 6 has already been updated. Sadly, the CEO didn’t disclose anything more.
OnePlus 6T Tease
Although Pete Lau didn’t disclose anything more about the delay, he did tease new information regarding the OnePlus 6. According to GSM Arena, the upcoming smartphone will ship with Google’s new OS out of the box and we also expect it to bring OnePlus’ new OxygenOS UI re-design.
Regarding the smartphone’s launch date, it will be launched on 30 October 2018. The company has sent out press invites to their “Unlock The Speed” event which will be held in New York City 11:00 AM / New Delhi 8:30 PM.
