NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1180: All The Latest Buzz

1:05 PM

One of the highly anticipated tech devices this year is Nvidia’s upcoming GPU cards – GeForce GTX 1180 – and we’ve been heard many rumors, leaks and speculations about it for quite a long time now. So what’s the latest buzz about it? Well, here are the things that you need to know:

When Will It Be Coming?

It will be coming this year as it was previously confirmed an on-camera interview with Brainbean by a Lenovo representative. The said graphics card will be included in Lenovo Legion 730 gaming laptops which is also scheduled to come this fall. In addition to this, there were also reports claiming it will be released this July.

A Mysterious PC-Related Event From Nvidia

Nvidia is reportedly sending invites for Gamescom which is scheduled for August 21st. The event will be about PCs. Given that this is believed to be a PC-related event, there are speculations that the company might spill some interesting details about its upcoming GTX 1180 or it could be announced there.

Two Graphics Cards Coming & More

According to rumors, two graphics cards will be available at the launch. Presumably, these cards are GTX 1180 and GTX 1170.

Following the release, after a month, 3 more will come as well. These are GTX 1180 Ti, GTX 1160 and GTX 1150.

The Specs and Features

The said graphics card is reportedly going to feature specs similar to the most powerful and expensive gaming GPU available in the market – Titan XP. It will feature:

  • 3584 Cuda Cores
  • 8-16 GB of VRAM
  • 1600 MHz core clock
  • 1800 MHz boost clock
  • 13 TFLOPS
  • 16 Gbps Memory Speed
  • TDP of 170 to 200 watts

The Price Tag

Regarding its price, it will be good news — assuming the rumors are true. Apparently, it will cost around $700 which is something to celebrate for given that the Titan XP costs $1,200.

8K Gaming Isn’t Possible?

There have been rumors flying around saying that 8K gaming will be possible with the GTX 1180 — this is based on the “leaked specs” spotted online. However, a news report claims that this is impossible and explains:

If these are actually GTX 1180’s specs then even two wouldn’t be able to run a game on two 4k monitors at Ultra 60 FPS unless the game is something like CS:GO. The GTX 1180 is a bit stronger than the strongest gaming GPU available to the market right now the Nvidia Titan XP.

So basically, 8K gaming isn’t possible. However, 4K gaming is.
