NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1180 Launch, Next-Gen PCB 'Prototype' Spotted

3:56 PM

NVIDIA is reportedly shipping out its next-generation graphics cards in early August. In addition to this, a PCB “test/prototype” was spotted at Reddit.

Shipping Out

According to WCCFTECH’s Usman Pirzada, he has received confirmation that the NVIDIA GeForce Add-in-Board (AIB) partners will be getting shipments of the company’s next-generation graphics cards based on the Turing architecture in early August. Although the nomenclature is yet to be confirmed, Pirzada strongly believes that it could be the long-awaited Nvidia GTX 1180.

With this, it will take around a few weeks or so to complete the process and a launch could possibly be made around September. However, keep in mind that this is assuming there won’t be any problems that could cause a delay.

Pirzada also noted that the AIBs will initially be only getting a few hundred GPUs each – presumably around 150-300 per AIB. It will be used for development purposes by the AIB.

Comparing It To Previous Reports

Last month, Tom’s Hardware Germany’s Igor Wallossek spoke with industry sources who wished to remain anonymous. They told him that in July there will be a release for the Founder’s Edition cards with third-party cards to follow in August or September.

This month, Tweak Town’s Anthony Gareffa spoke with AIB partners. They told him that the Nvidia GTX 1180 will be announced in July and will released in August/September.

Another one is Digi Times’ interview with Power Logic’s chairman Hsu Wen-Feng. According to him, given that Nvidia and AMD are set to release their new-generation GPUs in the second half of 2018, he expects Power Logic’s shipments of GPU cooling fans to significantly increase after the release.

PCB “Prototype” Spotted

According to a report at WCCFTECH, a next-generation NVIDIA GeForce graphics card PCB “test/prototype” was spotted at Reddit. The prototype features 12 GB GDDR6 memory, 384-bit memory bus interface, three 8-pin power connectors, and a second-generation NVLINK connector.

Exciting, isn’t it? But what’s strange is that the Reddit link source given by the article doesn’t exist – well, to be specific, the user who posted the leak deleted their account.

It looks like we have the first leak of a next-generation NVIDIA GeForce graphics card PCB straight from Reddit.

So do you think about the Nvidia GTX 1180’s September launch? What are your thoughts regarding the PCB “prototype” spotted at Reddit? Do tell us in the comment section below.
