Nokia 9 Delayed? Everything You Need To Know About HMD’s February 2019 Launch
The tech company HMD Global is expected to launch a flagship device, possibly the highly-anticipated Nokia 9, this coming fall 2018. Unfortunately, the company still has not showcased the handset. The launch will likely not happen anytime soon even if many reports started coming out since late 2017, which is after the launch of the current Nokia 8.
According to Gizmochina, the company seemed to have made its decision to only introduce the Nokia 8 Sirocco for this year’s device. This device was also delayed and should have been released at the end of 2017. This device is powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset that also powered mostly 2017 flagships. This chipset may be the main reason the device did not achieve huge success after its release at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 last February.
New reports currently pointed out that the announcement for the last quarter of this year has also been canceled. This indicates that the Nokia 9 will be the same as Nokia 8 Sirocco and will be showcased at the MWC 2019, which is scheduled to be held from February 25 to 28. However, the company did not officially confirm this yet. This delayed device was initially speculated to unveil at the beginning of this year and was expected to be the 2018 flagship.
Many schematics and real photos got leaked recently and showed that the flagship will be the first ever smartphone in the entire world to sport a Penta-lens camera setup equipped with five sensors on the back side. This setup will come with the LED flash in a revolver-like configuration with a sensor in the middle. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 will have the Adreno 630 chipset.
In the photography department, the five cameras on the rear side of this flagship device are expected to have the sensors co-engineered with Carl Zeiss. Each type of sensor will be seen on the handset, such as the wide-angle lens, monochromatic sensor, and telephoto lens. The 5.9-inch QHD + OLED display will house the in-display fingerprint scanner. The internal storages will be 64GB or 128GB in single and dual-SIM variants with 8GB RAM.
