After a month, HMD Global finally released the pair of midrange smartphones Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus in a press event in New Delhi on Tuesday. The two smartphones are upgraded versions of the Nokia X5 and Nokia X6 that entered the Chinese market last month.

Nokia 6.1 Plus features and specs

This particular handset will be offered in three color options. These options are Gloss White, Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Black. Here are other features and specs to watch out for:

Performance and storage

The rebranded version of the Nokia X6 will be utilizing the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chip and 4GB RAM. This means that the phone has decent performance. While this is not the best smartphone for gaming, it does work well enough for other activities. It also comes with a built-in 64GB of storage that can be expanded to 400 GB via a microSD card.

Nokia brought the dual rear camera setup to its latest phones. The Nokia 6.1 Plus, for example, has 16MP primary camera, with 1-micron pixels and f/2.0 aperture. The secondary camera has a monochrome mode with 5MP at f/2.4 aperture and 1.12-micron pixels.

Display and design

The Nokia 6.1 Plus sports one of the most powerful screens that the company has released yet. It has a 5.8-inch full-HD+ screen, with 1080p x 2280 pixels. It dons a glass front and back, with a narrow aluminum railing on the side.

Nokia 5.1 Plus features and specs

One of the strongest features of this handset is its battery life. This is due to the 3,060mAh battery that comes with it. These are other features and specs you should know:

Performance and storage

As it is being positioned as HMD Global’s budget smartphone, the rebranded Nokia X5 does not exactly have the best performance and storage. It uses Mediatek Helio P60 chipset, which has an average performance. It uses 4GB RAM and has 64GB of storage.

The Plus version of the Nokia 5.1 has a dual-rear camera setup as well. Its primary camera has 13MP capabilities while the second one has 5MP. Lastly, it has an 8MP selfie camera.

Display and design

This handset has a 5.9-inch IPS LCD screen that has 1,520 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Just like the 6.1 Plus, its design has also been inspired by the iPhone X, with its display notch.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus will have an introductory price of Rs 19,999. Meanwhile, the price of the Nokia 5.1 Plus will be Rs 15,999.

HMD Global’s push

The great midrange appeal of the two smartphones proves that HMD Global may be the next big thing in the smartphone scene. When it took over Nokia’s mobile business a few years ago, it inherited an outdated look for its smartphones. Now it is making the most out of Nokia’s former glory and pushing hard towards a bigger market share.
