Microsoft Surface Phone With Two Screens Appears Again In New Patent
Fans of Microsoft might be aware of the rumor that company is working on a device with a foldable screen for quite some time now. However, the company has never given out many details of this device until now. Even though smartphone lovers have named it Surface Phone, there is no evidence to prove that it is a smartphone in itself. In fact, it seems more of a modern device with many features including folding screens.
A new patent filed by Microsoft provides details of how the Surface Phone will be able to determine which of the two screens must be used. By being able to do this, the device can save battery life. This will be a great breakthrough as battery life is a grey area for most modern devices. The said patent is discovered by the famous Microsoft leaker WalkingCat.
Since the company has found a way to increase battery life, this technology could be implemented in the famous Microsoft Surface Phone. “The processor can be configured to detect a current angular orientation between the pair of screens,” says Microsoft.
Technology Used For Long Battery Life in Microsoft Surface Phone
Using a wide range of sensors, the company will determine the position of each screen, and that includes the accelerometer which is used to calculate the screens angle. This technology is apt for a device with foldable displays.
We cannot be sure as of now if the Surface Phone is real. We will have to wait and watch to see if Microsoft intends to pursue this idea or keep it in the patent phase.
Even though Microsoft ceases to be part of the smartphone industry, the firm is secretly working on a new mobile device. Microsoft’s next Windows 10 device will most probably be known as the Andromeda code. More details of the Andromeda project is likely to come out in the fall of this year when Microsoft unveils the Windows 10 Redstone 5 update.
Until then, we can only wait patiently as time will reveal whether Microsoft Surface Phone is for real or just a rumor.
