New Patent Spotted Suggests Future Microsoft Surface Devices To Feature Smart Battery For Ultra-Fast Charging
It seems Microsoft’s future Surface devices may be quite interesting, especially when it comes to batteries. Why? Well, a patent was spotted suggesting that the company is working on a smart battery for ultra-fast charging.
The first one to notice this patent titled “Smart Batteries for ultrafast charging” was Windows Latest. It was filed way back by Microsoft on February 2017 and was just then published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) last week – August 23, 2018.
To anyone who wants to view the complete details of the patent, it can be viewed here at Free Patents Online. It is even available for download and print.
On the patent, the company describes methods and devices that can help charge the smart battery in a computing device. Apparently, a battery management controller will be used which will decide the charging configuration for managing the battery modules of the smart battery. In addition to that, it will also manage in transmitting a charging configuration signal to the battery modules of the smart battery.
So When Will This Technology Be Implemented?
Although this patent seems very interesting and something that most people would probably like to see on future Surface devices, one must know that when it comes to patents, usually they take years to be fully implemented. How many years is that? Well, it’s hard to say. In fact, some patents may not even get to see the light of day.
But hopefully, Microsoft does implement this feature on its future Surface products very soon. I mean, who doesn’t want an ultra-fast charging device, right? With people nowadays wanting everything fast or just a click away, this feature does fit our current lifestyle.
