New High-Resolution HTC Vive Pro VR to Take on Google's Daydream VR

HTC has taken the Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2018 center stage to unveil its newest and upgraded VR headset, the Vive Pro and Vive Wireless Adapter. This device is reportedly enhanced compared to its predecessor as it features higher resolution. In fact, this VR headset is anticipated to take on Google’s Daydream VR.

HTC Vive Pro VR Headset Specs and Features

According to Metro, HTC Vive Pro VR Headset was designed in partnership with Steam creators Valve. This is already the highest tech and luxurious among the three major VR headsets. Nonetheless, the new Pro version features a better the resolution, from a 2160 x 1200 display to 2880 x 1600.

With that being said the pixel count increase of 78%, with the PPI (pixels per inch) increasing by 37% to 615. This premium resolution improves immersion for VR fanatics, and the upgraded clearness means text, graphics, and overall experience has a sharper view.

Apart from that, Vive has noted that the Pro version also sports integrated, high-performance headphones. It also features a built-in amplifier that offers an intensified sense of presence and richer sound.

The Vive Pro’s new headstrap was created with improved ergonomics and comfort. As a matter of fact, it included a sizing dial for a more stable headset that reduces weight on the front portion of the headset. Other advances include dual microphones with active noise cancellation and dual front-facing cameras intended to permit developer ingenuity.

HTC Vive Pro VR Headset Availability and Price

As for the release date, the HTC Vive Pro is confirmed to hit the market shelves this year. Nonetheless, the price of this device is not known yet.

HTC Vive Adapter

HTC Vive Adapter was unveiled together with Vive Pro. It will function with both versions of the headset. This adapter will become available n autumn and should deliver a major enhancement to the VR experience.
