Microsoft ‘Surface Phone,' Andromeda Project Isn’t Totally Gone, Azure Demo Video Hints
Many think that the Microsoft Surface Phone and the Andromeda Project is already canceled, but it appears really not the case. As a matter of fact, a demo video of the Azure mobile apps allegedly hints that the Microsoft’s venture still exists.
According to SlashGear, the Redmond-based tech giant allegedly postponed “indefinitely” its foldable handset; Surface Phone and the Andromeda OS. But then, this demo video that has nothing to do with the Andromeda firmware seems to hint that this project of might still existent.
Even though this sounds good news to Microsoft fans, the following information is advised to be taken with skepticism. The said demo video revolves around the Azure mobile applications, but it unintentionally shows a screen wherein a few network-connected tests have “Andromeda” in their name. Whether that discusses the much-rumored Andromeda or not it is still unconfirmed.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that this isn’t the first time Andromeda aks Surface Phone has been utilized in the tech industry. But recently, this moniker has been used to denote to Microsoft’s not so the undisclosed project that includes a foldable handset and a custom Windows 10 experience that will run the Microsoft Surface Phone. Considering what has been named Windows Core, Andromeda would have utilized Microsoft’s new modular CShell that would carry in different forms be contingent on the context or the layout of the handset.
However, the same Andromeda OS was blamed for the unspecified postponement of the Microsoft Surface Phone. Some parts of it would have gone into the subsequent Windows 10 upgrade but Microsoft executives felt that it wasn’t all set for prime time. As an alternative, the lunched the Surface Go which seems to get the interest of tech pundits.
