Microsoft October Event 2018: New Surface Pro, Surface Laptop 2, Surface Go LTE and More Expected

3:50 PM

Earlier this month, Microsoft sent out invites for its event “A moment of your time” which is scheduled for October 2 at 4:00 p.m. ET in New York City. The tech giant is reportedly going to show off the next version of its Surface devices.

A New Surface Pro?

According to a report, there could be a new Surface Pro next month. There is a reason behind this because in 2013, the company announced the Surface Pro on September and then later released it in October. Meanwhile, in 2015, the Surface Pro 4 was announced and released in October.

However, it is also important to note that Microsoft isn’t exactly faithful to the annual calendar. With this in mind, it’s best not to get your hopes up too much for Surface Pro 6.

A Surface Laptop 2?

Apparently, a “revamped Surface Laptop” could be featured on the upcoming event. The reason why it is referred as a “revamped” because aside from offering it in some new colors, most of the updates will be internal as it is reported to feature eighth-generation Intel Core processors, LPDDR4 RAM and some bigger SSD storage options. But despite being referred to as a “revamped”, it will be called as Surface Laptop 2.

A LTE Version of Surface Go?

Another device that’s rumored to come at the upcoming event is a Surface Go that supports LTE cellular technology. The current available model was unveiled on July 10, 2018, and was later released the following month on August 2, 2018.

Regarding the price tag, the original model starts in at $400. Add in the keyboard cover ($99) and Surface Pen Stylus ($99), you’re looking at a price of around $600. As for the LTE version, it’s hard to say what will be its base price, but we’re hoping it won’t be far from the $400 price range because the two add-ons are already quite expensive.

Other Microsoft Products

Aside from the other devices mentioned, reports are also hoping for the Surface Studio and Surface Book to appear or at least be mentioned. There’s also the long-rumored Surface Andromeda, which initially was rumored to come in 2018, then was reported that it might not come at all, and then now is reportedly coming in late 2019.

Which Surface device are you looking forward to the most? All of them perhaps? Do tell us in the comment section below.
