MacBook Air 2018 Latest Specs, Release Date, Price, Leaks: Everything We Should Know
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently claimed that a new MacBook Air 2018 might be in works and will be introduced this spring with a cheaper price. This led to many speculations about the big tech company’s plans for this no-longer-lightest and no-longer-skinniest laptop.
In terms of specification, the MacBook Air 2018 might feature an integrated Intel’s HD Graphics 6000 cards with Force Touch and USB-C ports to help double up connectivity type. The device is rumored to have a 1.7-centimeter design and 12-hour battery life weighing 1.35 kg similar to the current MacBook Air model. MacBook Air 2018 is also expected to sport Touch ID, which is the company’s fingerprint scanning technology.
Under the hood, the MacBook Air 2018 could get powered by an eighth-generation Intel processor codenamed “Coffee Lake” paired with the Core M series, which is the higher type of Intel’s fifth-generation Broadwell processor that the current MacBook Air uses. The device will offer a Retina display and a resolution of as high as 2560 pixels by 1600 pixels since reports suggest that LG is going to start producing screens with the said resolution likely for the new MacBook Air at the end of May or early June.
The release date of the MacBook Air 2018 is planned to unveil in the second quarter of this year, leading to a very short period of time from its reveal to its release in the market. The device will probably be announced during the WWDC 2018 event. However, the company is not planning to update it again anymore since they publicly mentioned the importance of another low-cost device, the Mac mini.
According to Mac World, the current MacBook Air is not only powerful but also £300 ($421) cheaper than the MacBook making it still recommended. For this reason, this device is the only Mac laptop available for less than £1000 ($1400) considering the standard 12-inch MacBook was the company’s best-selling computer back in 2015. So, the new MacBook Air 2018 is already expected to be cheaper than the current model even though it is packed with a range of updated specs.
