What To Expect From The MacBook Air 2018 and The New iPad Pro Ahead Of Its Release
For the second half of this year, we’re expecting the MacBook Air 2018 and the new iPad Pro 2018 (aka iPad Pro 3) to come. With that being said, here are the things that you need to know about the said devices.
The 2018 MacBook Air
According to reports, a new low-cost 13-inch laptop is set to come in the second half of this year. In fact, there have been talks that it could be launched next month. However, what makes it confusing is that people are confused if the said laptop will sit alongside the 12-inch MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Air, replace one of them, or replace both of them.
As for its rumored specs/features, well, it was reported to feature thinner bezels, Retina display and be packed with an older Kaby Lake or the newly announced Whiskey Lake processors. In addition to this, there were also reports about it featuring a Touch ID fingerprint scanner and an “ultrathin” design.
Regarding its price tag, there are two speculations. One is that it will feature a starting price of $999 – this is the starting price of the current available model. On the other hand, given that it is referred to as “low-cost”, then it is believed that it will cost $100 less, making it $899. Let’s just hope that it’s the latter.
The New iPad Pro 2018
For this device, it is said to come in two variants. The standard version will feature a 10.5/11-inch (depending on which rumor you choose to believe) screen and a larger version which comes with a 12.9-inch display.
Regarding the release date, they were initially expected to be released last June because its predecessor – iPad Pro 2 – was announced and released back in June of 2017. As of now, reports are suggesting that the two variants will be launched in late September. If this doesn’t happen, then it could be October or possibly in November.
In regards to their rumored specs/features, firs,t let’s talk about its front design. Apparently, both iPad Pro 2018 will feature an iPhone X-like design with slimmer bezels, meaning there won’t be any physical home button – but this isn’t 100 percent sure about the home button part. There also won’t be a notch as well.
As for the others, well, there is a possibility that both won’t be featuring a headphone jack, but just like the home button this also isn’t 100 percent sure. Furthermore, there have also been talks that the devices will come with Face ID support and a TrueDepth Camera System for Face ID. And lastly, the said devices will be packed with an A11X Bionic chip which is an upgraded version of the A11 Bionic processor found in the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.
For the price tag, we don’t have any official confirmation about it yet. However, we can look at the prices of the 2017 models which sit at $649 and $799. With this, we’re expecting the 2018 models to come in at a similar price or just a little bit higher.
So which of the two devices are you more interested with? The MacBook Air 2018 or new iPad Pro 2018? Or perhaps both of them? We would like to hear from you in the comment section down below.
