The Cupertino tech giant Apple is recently rumored to release a cheaper version of MacBook Air later this year. A newly designed laptop is long overdue. In its current state, the device is more or less the same laptop when the company released it in 2010 with internals from 2015.

According to Laptop Mag, details about the new laptop are still scarce. However, this will not stop analysts from speculating the possible exciting features to regain attention. The laptop still continues to sell well despite lagging behind the competition in several key areas. The 12-inch MacBook acts as the most portable option while the MacBook Pro serves as the most powerful in the current laptop lineup.

If the company does introduce MacBook Air 2018, this device will likely sell for around the same price and will likely replace the current MacBook Air at a price of less than $1,000. The base prices will be somewhere between $799 and $999. Within the price parameters, the device can have a full high definition screen. The new laptop is designed to be the entry-level product family inside MacBooks.

The company is expected to take a conservative approach for its release. Analysts speculated that the cheaper version could find itself in a similar sales pattern as the current iPhone. This is because many risks need to be considered. The low price could lead to the use of low-priced components. This means that there will be low-quality components, which could result in increased hardware failures. So, the company needs to be cautious.

To differentiate itself, the company can inject some of the innovations seen in the current MacBook Pro. These include the Touch Bar shortcut controls or the latest Touch ID fingerprint sensor to add more secure, faster login. Too many features could make this cheap laptop into an expensive one for many users.

So, what do you think about the possible upcoming cheaper MacBook Air 2018? Would you buy this or not? Let us know by writing in the comment section below.
