Is It Too Late for Apple’s Mac Mini 2018 or Mac Mini 2? Everything We Must Know
The tech company Apple seems to know when to drop a much-loved product or the product’s feature to ensure on whether it is still popular or profitable. They often switch its focus to something else that is more futuristic like the new MacBook Air. However, the Mac mini has not been updated ever since its 2014 launch.
According to Macworld, even if the Apple TV is making its claim as a media center device because it can store a large number of films, the Mac mini continues to be an excellent choice and is still an important product in its lineup. This offers 500GB as a standard and up to 2TB as a configuration option.
Phil Schiller, the company’s vice president of product marketing, mentioned the importance of the Mac mini 2 to the press in April 2017. However, he did not add any more details about it. So far, the design of the upcoming device will be new and could be larger to incorporate more powerful components. The expected dimensions will be 3.6 centimeters high and 19.7 centimeters wide with the weight of 1.22 kilograms.
Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C are the two standard ports expected for the Mac mini 2018 or Mac Mini 2. USB-C offers more advantages than just being reversible. You can easily connect when you cannot see what you are doing. This port also provides twice the data throughput of USB 3.0 and the ability to deliver far more power. Meanwhile, the Thunderbolt 3 enables us to use USB-C as a combined data and power port and further slim down its design.
The Mac Mini 2 should be ramped up to 8GB of RAM because as of now, the entry-level model has 4GB only as a standard. The addition of more flash drive options would be another big change for this device. In terms of its release date, many speculated it looks likely to be on the upcoming Apple event on October 30. This is because the company made its last update on the device on October 16, 2014, which is more than four years ago.
