Latest Google Patent Shows An All-Screen, Notch-Free Smartphone: Is This Google Pixel 4?

Mountain View tech giant Google hasn’t messed too much with the design language of its flagship handset ever since its first Pixel handset. Its latest Pixel smartphones, dubbed the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, were unveiled last October. The former offered an 18:9 display with thick bezels above the display, while the latter adopted a display notch for a higher screen-to-body ratio.

According to 91mobiles, the company seems to join the club of full-screen, notch-free smartphone manufacturers. A newly-granted patent has recently been filed for a phone that could be the company’s first all-screen phone with an edge-to-edge display. This appeared on the World Intellectual Property Organization’s website.

If this latest leak is to be believed, this will be the highly anticipated Google Pixel 4. In the patent, a handful of sketches of this smartphone shows off its design. The device seems does not have a notch and has a full-screen display. The bezels are almost non-existent around the screen. The thick chin is eliminated at the bottom. The rear of the device has a two-tone finish and looks similar to the current Google Pixel 2 XL. A single primary camera is at the rear with a LED flash and a fingerprint sensor.

The edges of the alleged Google Pixel 4 are unchanged with volume and power buttons on the right side. The SIM-card slot is on the left, a USB Type-C port on the bottom, and a microphone on the top. There is no slidable, pop-up, or pinhole mechanism present. A 3.5millimeter headphone jack seen on the second-generation and third-generation Pixel phones is also not present.

As of now, there is no guarantee yet that the company will pursue in making an all-screen smartphone since this is still a patent. The filing does suggest the idea is there. The company could be getting in ahead of time to secure the design.

So, do you think this is the upcoming Google Pixel 4? Share your thoughts by writing in the comment section below.
