John Boyega in negotiations to headline 'A Naked Singularity' Film Adaptation
Actor John Boyega, who is known for his rapturous performance as Finn in the 2015 movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its sequel Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), is in early talks with the makers who are planning to adapt the popular novel A Naked Singularity for the silver screen. The novel is written by American author Sergio De La Pava and was his debut novel which became an instant best-seller when he self-published in 2008. Owing to the huge popularity of the novel, it was later republished in 2012 and went on to win the PEN Prize for Debut Fiction in 2013.
A Naked Singularity revolves around Casi, a New York-based successful public defender. Soon he begins to feel burdened with his work and starts questioning everything after he loses his first case. David Matthews has been entrusted with the responsibility of creating the script for the big screen adaptation of the novel. Chase Palmer, who wrote the screenplay for horror hit It (2017), is helping him on the project. Apart from co-writing the script, Palmer will helm the project, too.
A Naked Singularity is being bankrolled by Scott Free Productions. The same production house which is also producing Wash Westmoreland’s Alicia Vikander starrer The Earthquake Bird for streaming media giant Netflix. The series is set for its grand premiere very soon. Scott Free Productions has teamed up with 3311 Productions for financing the project. Tony Ganz is also associated with the high-profile film as co-producer.
As far as the other actors in the star cast of the film are concerned, the team is expected to begin a hunt for them only after finalizing John Boyega as the male lead. Besides Star Wars, Boyega has also impressed the audience with his breakout performances in notable films like The Circle (2017), Detroit (2017) and Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018).
