Is The iPhone SE2 Going To Be Released In September? Here's All You Need To Know
It’s highly expected that there will be three iPhone models coming next month. These are the 6.5-inch OLED, 5.8-inch OLED, and 6.1-inch LCD.
With the 6.1-inch model, it is expected to be the ‘budget’ model. However, there is also one model that people are asking about, which is the iPhone SE2. But where is it? When is it coming?
It Has Been Replaced?
Earlier this year, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple will be releasing three iPhone models for 2018. With three models already on the pipeline, the company may have already used up its development resources. Thanks to this, some reports have speculated that the role for the “budget model” has been taken over by the 6.1-inch LCD which is expected to cost $550-$650 for its single-SIM version and $650-$750 for its dual-SIM version.
But if we compare it to the currently available model of the SE lineup which now sits at $349 for its 32GB model and $449 for the 128GB (it was originally priced at $399 and $499), while the iPhone SE 2’s price was rumored to be $450, then the $550-$650 and $650-$750 price ranges are still a bit expensive – assuming that this is accurate. But Apple isn’t known for its budget-friendly price, right?
Another assumption is that the 6.1-inch LCD variant is the successor of the iPhone SE. But of course, without any official announcement from Apple, it’s best to take all this information with a pinch of salt.
So When Can We Expect It?
The first model was released in March 2016 followed by a refresh the following year on the same month. With this, there are two possibilities.
First, if the 6.1-inch version is indeed the successor, then we can expect it in September. The second possibility is that if it isn’t, then a perhaps we could see one this year (which has a low probability) or we may have to wait until March of 2019.
Back in February 2018, it was reported to feature a 4.2-inch screen. In addition to that, it will have the classic iPhone shape and the front Home button to support fingerprint recognition.
A few months later, one report suggests that iPhone SE2 will ditch the headphone jack. Meanwhile, other reports claims that it will also come in multiple colors such as blue, yellow, and pink in order to appeal to younger users. Furthermore, in terms of size, iPhone SE 2will be slimmed down.
Rumored iPhone SE2 is expected to be packed with an Apple A10 Fusion chipset which can be found on the iPhone 7. Why? Well, the current model is packed with the Apple A9 chip found on the iPhone 6s.
For its RAM, it is rumored to be 2GB. Meanwhile, for its storage, it will be 32GB and 128GB.
On the front, it could possibly sport a 5MP or 7MP FaceTime camera with Retina Flash. At the back, a 12 MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture and no bump is rumored.
The Battery and Other Features
It will be powered by a 1,700 mAh battery. For its features, it’s rumored to come with Face ID, enhanced NFC capabilities, wireless charging, and 3D Touch.
