iPhone X Plus: Release Date, Features and Other iPhone X2 Rumors
Less than a month before Apple is rumored to release its 2018 iPhones, the hype of the iPhone X Plus is at its peak. The phone, which will serve as one of the three new models that will be announced along with iPhone X2, is a major play from Apple after last year’s set of smartphones failed to result in a significant rise in earnings.
One of the most exciting developments on the iPhone X Plus is the major upgrades it will have with regards to its wireless charging feature. Reports say that Apple managed to achieve a 15W maximum for the wireless charging coil according to 9 to 5 Mac. This will improve the wireless charging speed of the iPhone X Plus a bit.
The speed, however, may still be slower than even 5W wired charging. This could limit the prospects of wireless charging to catch on with some segments of the buying public.
Additionally, the 2018 iPhones will also sport the same L-shaped battery of its direct predecessor. This will mean that Apple made the use of space inside the phone more efficient.
The iPhone X2 and other 2018 iPhones will come a month after the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, according to Forbes. While that phablet model managed to soften the blow of the muted reviews that Samsung Galaxy S9 received, it did not exactly get a ringing endorsement from tech critics and experts.
There are also a number of smartphones that will be announced during the IFA 2018 in Berlin. The event will run from Friday, August 31 to Wednesday, September 5. This could mean that it would be the perfect platform to unveil a possible ‘iPhone killer’ device. If a new smartphone proves to be as good (or better) than the new iPhones, it could steal Apple’s thunder.
Release date and pre-order
As with most previous models, the 2018 iPhones will be officially announced in a big event on the second week of September. Rumors say that the event will either fall on September 11 or 12 as Apple typically does major announcements during Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
A leak from a German carrier, meanwhile, indicates that pre-orders for the 2018 iPhones will start on Friday, September 14, according to Mac Rumors. Since the corporation usually does pre-orders and launches simultaneously in multiple countries, this may also be the same date for the United States. Pre-order pages are expected to go live by midnight U.S. Pacific time on that date.
