iPad Pro 3 or iPad Pro 2018 Might Switch Lightning Connector to USB Type-C as Kuo Claims
The big September 12 event tomorrow from the tech giant Apple is coming, but nothing is stopping the leaked information and predictions. Not all turn out to be 100% accurate yet the recent prediction is from a reliable source.
According to MacRumors, the reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has recently posted a new research note. In the note, the latest predictions point out about the upcoming products like iPad Pro 3, Apple Watch Series 4, MacBook models, and the new iPhone 9. His previous note from July was more Mac-focused.
Kuo believes that the upcoming iPad Pro 2018 will feature the Face ID functionality seen from the current iPhone X. This indicates the switch from its proprietary Lightning connector to the industry standard USB Type-C format for the first time. Others suggest that there is also a chance that Kuo is pertaining to the USB-C charger, not the port.
Either way would be great because this would be a massive change for an iOS device and be a bonus for productivity. Kuo’s note did not indicate that the simple change is going to be from USB-A Lightning to USB-C Lightning. However, it is an actual port change on the tablet itself.
This upgrade will also bundle with the new unibody design 18W power adapter in the box canceling the removable plug design. This report connects to the Kuo’s note that indicated the iPhones 2018 will retain the 5W power charging adapter and Lightning connectors. This is contradicting to the recent ruling made by the European Union (EU) regulators could force the tech giant to ditch Lightning for the future iPhones.
It is still unclear at this point whether the iPad Pro 3 and Mac models will be seen on stage at tomorrow’s event or not. The event may also be dedicated for the iPhone 9 or iPhones 2018 and Apple Watch Series 4.
