iPad mini 5: Coming In March 2019, Might Feature Upgraded Processor And Lower-cost Panel
One of the Apple products that tech enthusiasts are hoping to see is the iPad mini 5 which is why it comes to no surprise that everyone is on the lookout for new details about it. This time around, a report was made mentioning the iPad mini 5’s release date, specs, and features.
The Expected Release Date
According to Techworm, the iPad mini 5 is expected to come on March 2019. And on the event, the next 9.7-inch iPad model is also expected to come as well.
But… Is There Really An iPad mini 5?
Last month, we published a report regarding the iPad mini 5 quoting MacWorld and well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
First, let’s start with Kuo. According to Kuo, one of the reasons why Apple chose not to release a successor is because it has been replaced by large-screen smartphones – the iPad mini 4 features a 7.9-inch display. Moreover, Kuo also revealed that in 2017 there was a strong demand for low-priced 9.7-inch iPads.
As for MacWorld, they noted a Digitimes report published on 17 August. On that report, it indicated that the Cupertino-based tech company has no “further plan for the iPad mini series” but will continue to sell it.
During its original launch date, the iPad mini 4 featured an introductory price of $399 for its 16GB model. Currently, that $399 price tag is for its 128GB model. However, that’s still quite expensive when compared to the 2018 9.7-inch iPad (32GB) which starts $329.
There was also a report from BGR in May of 2017 indicating that a source claimed that Apple was phasing out the iPad mini line completely. Even Techcrunch reported the same year that the iPad mini 4 could probably be the last mini.
What Are Its Expected Specs/Features?
Although it seems unclear whether there will be iPad mini 5 or not, there have been reports about its expected specs and features nevertheless. Quoting Kuo, the upcoming mini tablet is expected to come with “an upgraded processor and a lower-cost panel”.
In terms of processor, Techworm suggests it could be powered with either an A11 or A12 processor. As for its design, it may feature the same look of the 2018 iPad Pro. Furthermore, it’s also expected to come with Face ID.
