Blue Icon On iOS 12 Beta Reveals Apple iPad Pro 3 Design
One of the highly anticipated tech devices this year is the Apple iPad Pro 3 (aka 2018 iPad Pro) and many tech enthusiasts are constantly on the lookout for new details regarding the said device. This time around, a new scoop revealing the device’s design has been spotted — thanks to the iOS 12 beta.
The Blue Icon
According to reports, people were able to spot something quite interesting on the iOS 12 beta, specifically on its battery usage UI. It shows two blue icons; “HLSipad” and “HLSipad 2”. As you can see, the HLSipad2 shows a line drawing which made many people assume that it could be the iPad Pro 3, because it features a bezel-less design with the absence of a physical Home Button on its front design that goes in line with the rumored specs and features of the upcoming tablet.

When it comes to the display, aside from the screen size, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that both 2018 iPad Pro will have its bezels reduced. There have also been reports suggesting that it will feature an all-screen display with an iPhone notch, and it will ditch the Home Button.
Speaking of sizes, there was a recent rumor from a Japanese site called Macotakara concerning the overall size of the upcoming iPad Pro 3. As you may have already heard from previous rumors, there will be two variants: a 10.5-inch (or 11-inch if you choose to believe Kuo’s prediction) variant and a 12.9-inch variant. According to the Macotakara, the smaller version will measure in at 247.5 x 178.7 x 6 mm. Meanwhile, the larger version will be 280 x 215 x 6.4 mm.
Another rumor concerning the upcoming tablets is that it will ditch the Touch ID and feature Face ID instead. In addition to this, it will also come with support for landscape oriented Face ID recognition and multi-user Face ID support. However, a recent report also claimed that it won’t support facial recognition in landscape mode.
Earlier reports suggest that iPad Pro 2018 is expected to feature 4 GB of RAM and will be packed with a more powerful processor compared to its predecessor. Furthermore, it will feature the Smart Connector and will ditch the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Lastly would be a patent spotted last February. What’s interesting about this patent is that it features two displays which are intended for MacBooks or second generation iPad Pros and was titled “Dual display equipment with enhanced visibility and suppressed reflections”.
On the patent, two screens are supported by a hinge. One screen acts as the main display, while the other screen acts like a keyboard.
The Release Date
Initially, it was expected to be released in June because the 2017 models were released during that time, but as you may already know, it was a no-show. As of now, reports are pointing towards September and October.
