To The Jailbreak Community: Should You Upgrade To iOS 12.1?
Apple has released the iOS 12.1 to the public domain. However, the jailbreak community is plagued with one question: Should you upgrade? Or should you wait until there’s information of a possible iOS 12.1 jailbreak?
The Predicament Faced By Jailbreakers
For the average iPhone and iPad users, seeing a new version of the iOS will get them excited due to the new features and improvements that come with it. Because of that, they won’t hesitate in getting the new firmware.
However, on the other side of the fence, we have the jailbreak community. These people like to liberate and tinker with their devices. They would think twice before getting the new iOS firmware because they might not meet certain conditions to perform a certain iOS jailbreak version.
Take for example an article we published back in July regarding the list of iOS firmware that’s compatible with the Electra Jailbreak. At that time, the tool supports:
- iOS 11.4 (beta versions 1 to 3)
- iOS 11.3.1
- iOS 11.3
- iOS 11.2.5
- iOS 11.2.2
- iOS 11.2.1
- iOS 11.2
So, Should You Upgrade?
If you’re into jailbreaking, an article suggests that it’s best to not upgrade to iOS 12.1 at the moment. The reason is that there is no iOS 12.1 jailbreak available right now or anyone sharing information about a possible jailbreak in the public domain, so it would be safer to stay on iOS 12.0.X (or earlier). For now, just wait it out until more information about it comes to light.
In regards to how long you should wait, well, that depends. In most cases, there will be jailbreak teams flaunting their progress or success in jailbreaking the latest firmware or a certain device. However, whether it will be free or let alone be released in the public domain, that is another question.
Do you think you should upgrade now to iOS 12.1? Also, how long do you think until there will be information about a possible iOS 12.1 jailbreak? Tell us in the comment section below.
