Huawei Watch GT Will Not Be Your Typical Smartwatch? Find Out More Details
The electronics giant LG just introduced their LG Watch W7 that seems to be the last OEM wearable to come running the Android-based Wear OS. The tech company Huawei is said to host a Mate 20 event. In this event, the new smartwatch Huawei Watch GT is expected to be also released besides the handset.
According to SlashGear, the latest report indicates that this upcoming wearable is all digital but not your typical smartwatch because it will not run Google’s wearable platform Wear OS as initially expected and hoped by many. This shows that the company is changing their course to provide more days of battery life, which no Wear OS could.
In terms of specification, previous reports showed that the Huawei Watch GT will feature about 7 days of battery life more or less, depending on its usage. This will last with Always On Display active and up to 20 hours with the GPS on. This wearable will use a chip based on the very low-power ARM Cortex-M4 instead of the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear platforms.
Then, the use of a custom operating system could squeeze out as much battery life as the wearable can from the 420mAh power source. The upcoming wearable might have a pretty limited and Huawei-exclusive selection concerning its accessibility to dozens of apps on Google Play Store.
The upcoming Huawei Watch GT will also boast a brand new 1.39-inch OLED display with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels and a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch. This display is bigger than the current Huawei Watch 2 Pro with a 1.2-inch display. Then, there will be two variants such as sport and classic styles.
A heart monitor and motion sensors will offer activity trackings like swimming and climbing. There will also be an IR blaster and 4G of internal storage. The release date is not officially announced yet as well as the pricing. The rumored launch will be in Europe in the coming weeks. However, the price is speculated to be around 200 EUR ($230).
