Since it was announced, the Huawei P30 was rumored to be the Chinese tech company’s first 5G smartphone. There is a big chance that the release of the P30 will be sooner than most experts and influencers initially thought.

Huawei P30 release

Reports say that either the Huawei P30 or the P30 Pro will have 5G connectivity. This was after Walter Ji, an executive in the company, confirmed that Huawei is getting ready for the release of its first 5G phone.

With a target release date in March, the major challenges that the company has to overcome in the development of the P30 are network connectivity and low latency. There are a lot of benefits in achieving 5G connectivity especially as Huawei CEO Eric Xu predicts that it will increase the usage of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), according to Gizmo China.

This Huawei announcement only proves that most of the world’s top smartphone brands are going to engage in the 5G race. Notably, Samsung and Apple are among the top candidates to get the first mass-produced 5G phones in the market in the next few years. Huawei already has a considerable head start as it already revealed a 5G chipset at the MWC in Barcelona in the first quarter of the year.

Huawei Mate 30 release

Ji also points out that the 5G connectivity may come instead with the 2019 Mate. As the other flagship Huawei smartphone product, the company also places the series in high regard. Which series will get the 5G connectivity feature will depend on the challenges that will be encountered in the development of the chipset. The 2019 Mate phone will be released in October next year.
