Nokia 9 Is Around The Corner As HMD Registers "PureDisplay" and "Face Unlock" Trademarks?
One of the highly anticipated smartphones to be released this year is the HMD’s Nokia 9 which is why it comes to no surprise that tech enthusiasts are always on the lookout for new details regarding it. This time around it has been revealed that HMD had filed two new trademarks of “PureDisplay” and “Face Unlock” which made reports wonder if this is indeed a clear sign of the Nokia 9’s imminent release.
The trademark which was filed back on August 10, 2018, is the PureDisplay. This feature falls under:
- Mobile phones
- Tablet computers
- Handheld media players
- Displays for smartphones
- Displays for mobile phones
- Displays for Tablet computers
- Displays for handheld media players
- Touch displays
- Light emitting diode (LED) displays
- Apparatus for recording, transmission or reproduction of sound or images.
The second one which is “Face Unlock” was filed back on April 16, 2018. This one falls under:
- Computers and computer hardware
- Cameras [photography]
- Camcorders; Software
- Downloadable software
- Computer gaming software
- Computer application software
- Computer application software for mobile telephones
- Mobile telephones
- Downloadable applications for use with mobile devices
Wait… There’s More
Aside from the two mentioned, there are two others which were reported just recently. This was the “PureView” which was filed back on April 1, 2018, and the “Dual-Sight” on February 2, 2018.
The Nokia 9’s Imminent Release?
With these trademarks, a report is suggesting that this could be a clear indication that HMD is preparing for the big launch of the Nokia 9. The article cites the company has indeed been working on a Penta-Lens camera and may be a very good OLED display for the flagship. In fact, on the description of the pure display, it does mention OLED displays.
When Will It Be Released?
Recently, an article suggested that Nokia 9 could be released on August 21, 2018, which didn’t happen. Right now, reports are pointing towards a possible release on IFA 2018 which is scheduled for August 31 to September 5, 2018.
