Here's Why The OnePlus 6T Will Be One Of The Best Smartphones In 2018
Whether it’s true or false, one of the beliefs attached to Chinese devices is that they easily break. However, it’s also undeniable that the OnePlus smartphones are very popular due to two reasons: budget-friendly price tags and high-end specs, which is very tempting considering that every year phone manufacturers release new smartphones.
This year, and just like the previous years, fans are expecting for another OnePlus smartphone to come – OnePlus 6T – and it’s reported to be pretty amazing. Why? Well, let’s review the reasons.
The Release Date & Price
Before we go into details regarding its specs and features, let’s tackle its release date and price first. Regarding its release date, reports are pointing towards mid-November. This is based on the launched dates of its previous models:
- 1 – April 23, 2014
- 2 – July 28, 2015
- X – October 29, 2015
- 3 – June 14, 2016
- 3T – November 15, 2016
- 5 – June 11, 2017
- 5T – November 17, 2017
- 6 – May 22, 2018
As for its price range, although there haven’t been any official announcements yet, it’s expected to come close to the OnePlus 6 where its 6GB/64GB variant costs £469 ($610), while the 8GB/128GB costs £519 ($676). However, another report suggests that the price range is Rs 35,000 ($510) to Rs 45,000 ($656).
A Powerful Tri-Camera Setup
We’ve all heard and seen Huawei’s P20 Pro tri-rear camera setup, and it was simply amazing. According to reports, the OnePlus 6T will be getting this as well where its rear camera will feature 40 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP. However, other reports also suggest that it’s 16 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP with dual-LED flash. As for its front camera, it’s reported to have 16 MP + 16 MP.
95% Screen-To-Body Ratio
These days, most phone companies are gearing towards less and fewer bezels which many consumers find very attractive. Apparently, the upcoming device will be featuring a screen-to-body ratio of up to 95%.
It will feature a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ Optic AMOLED touchscreen with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. In addition to this, it will have a slightly curved body on the sides with no frames in the front – similar to the Oppo Find X.
A Powerful Processor
Rumors suggest that the device could come with Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset — presumably the Snapdragon 855 chip. But in case it fails to do so, it could be packed with a Snapdragon 845 chip instead.
High RAM and Internal Memory
The device is reported to feature 8 GB RAM. As for its internal memory storage, it’s 512 GB.
In-Display Fingerprint Scanner & 3D Face Recognition
The current model already features 3D Face recognition, but only features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. But for the upcoming version, it’s reported to come with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
In regards to its 3D Face Recognition, reports say that it will be more advanced. Meaning, it will be safer and more secure in terms of usability.
Dependable Wireless Charging?
Well, this here is both bad news and goods news. First of all, fans were disappointed that the current model didn’t come with a wireless charging feature. This time around, rumors suggest that the upcoming model will finally have this feature.
However, the chances of the OnePlus 6T featuring wireless charging seem low. On a recent interview, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said,
“We have tested and will continue to test wireless charging technology going forward, but for now, we have not yet found a solution that meets our expectations for speed and convenience. This technology also still results in a thickening of the device and a heating of the device in the charging process.”
Now, the good news, it shows that the company is indeed working very hard to ensure that if they are to implement wireless charging on their products, it would be very dependable that users won’t have any issues in using it. Meanwhile, the bad news, well, given that they still haven’t found a solution that meets their expectations for speed and convenience, it’s hard to say when they will achieve the results that they desire.
Do you agree that the OnePlus 6T will be one of the best smartphones of 2018? Given its price tag, and rumored specs and features, it does sound pretty amazing, right? Also, what are your thoughts and opinions regarding with what Lau said? We would like to hear from you in the comment section below.
