GTA 6: Where Is The Location of Grand Theft Auto 6?
With the record-breaking success of its predecessor, it is not an understatement to say that GTA 6 is the most highly-awaited game title in the world right now. The fifteenth installment in the Grand Theft Auto series remains as the highest-selling entertainment product in history, after all. One of the things people are most excited about with the Grand Theft Auto 6 is its location.
Since the location of the GTA VI has a big effect on its overall storyline and plot, fans are excited to know the setting of the upcoming game. In this article, we list down six of the most credible leaks as to where the location of Grand Theft Auto 6 will be:
There is a massive chance that GTA VI will be set in Vice City, according to Technobuzz. This news is sensible considering that Vice City is a fan-favorite. A fictional version of Miami, Grand Theft Auto 6 may be set in a 1970s timeline. In the GTA universe, Vice City has been described as the main port city for cocaine transfers into the country.
London, United Kingdom
London was already used as a setting for a GTA game twice in the past. But it looks like its British developer Rockstar North is dedicated to moving the franchise on the other side of the pond for the upcoming release. This is in line with comments from Rockstar Games’ co-founder Dan Houser, according to Tech Radar. He said that the future of the franchise may not be limited to American settings. While he did not directly mention London, it is the strongest candidate as of the moment.
A few years ago, Rockstar insiders have pointed out that the game development studio once visited Japan, according to PC Gamer. The plan was to create a game that is set outside the U.S. However, the developers pulled the plug on it after realizing the difficulty of moving the location. It seems that Tokyo is being reconsidered again due to the increasing popularity of Japanese pop culture.
Liberty City and San Andreas
Liberty City and San Andreas, fictional versions of New York City and California, were the settings for Grand Theft Auto IV and V. To raise the stakes, both locations may be incorporated into the GTA 6.
Detroit, Michigan, United States
Detroit was one of the bases for Carcer City, a city in non-GTA Rockstar game Manhunt. It was described as a decaying city in the Rust Belt, located near Liberty City. This would make it the perfect location for the franchise.
Chicago, Illinois, United States
Since the two biggest cities in the country have already been fictionalized in the previous GTA games, it is logical to move to Chicago for the GTA VI. Rumor has it that it will be called Lake City.
With no official release date for the next Grand Theft Auto installment yet, there is still no confirmed location for the game. We may have to wait until 2020 before we can verify any of the rumors about the location.
