Google Pixel 3 'Crosshatch' and Pixel 3 XL 'Blueline' Keeps Popping At ASOP
Two of the highly anticipated smartphones this year are the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL from Google. Apparently, both devices keep popping up at the Android Open Source Project (ASOP). In addition to that, a recent report also suggests that the smartphones are definitely worth the wait.
According to Android Headlines, two fish names keep popping up at the ASOP; “crosshatch” and “blueline” which people believe could be the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Why? Well, Google is known to always pick fish names to represent their devices. Take for example the Nexus 6 which was codenamed as “shamu” which is a huge whale.
Furthermore, even last year’s models also featured fish names. The smaller version was codenamed as “walleye”, while the larger version was “taimen”.
What Is ASOP?
According to its site, “it is an open source software stack for a wide range of mobile devices and also a corresponding open source project which is led by Google.” The site itself offers information and source codes needed to create custom variants of the Android stack, portable devices, and accessories to the Android platform, and ensure your devices meet compatibility requirements.
Here’s Why The Pixel 3 and 3 XL Are Definitely Worth The Wait
According to the report, this year’s models (especially the larger version) will be amazing due to the previous leaks pointing out that both phones will better designs, better specs and an even better camera.
In fact, on our recent report, it will feature wider screens. For its camera, it will have a powerful dual module front camera which could rival the Samsung 9 and Huawei P20 Pro in terms of capturing photos, and greater Portrait mode shots.
It will be running on Android 9.0 P which is geared towards more on swiping rather than tapping. Also, coming to Android P is the Adaptive Battery which will intelligently monitor what applications used on a device. What this basically means is that it will limit the battery usage of a software that the user doesn’t frequently use.
And lastly, it will come with Active Edge which is similar to HTC’s Edge Sense. With this feature, you can launch an app or do certain things by simply squeezing the device’s lower sides.
The Release Date
As for Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL release date, there are no official announcements yet. However, reports suggest that it could be this October. Why? Well, the 2016 and 2017 models were released on October. So unless Google decides to change up the schedule, the expected release date will be in October.
