Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL Will Have A Huge Advantage Against Other Android Phones - Here's Why

3:27 PM

Two of the highly anticipated smartphones this year are Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. According to reports, both of these will have a huge advantage compared to other Android rivals, mainly due to the Gorilla Glass 6.

The Advantage

According to John Bayne, Vice President and General Manager at Corning Gorilla Glass, the Gorilla Glass 6 has been engineered to survive multiple drops. With this, smartphones could survive of up to 15 drops from one meter onto rough surfaces. In addition to this, it was also developed to meet the requirements of modern designs for more than 85% of the enclosure.

As for when will this glass be coming to the market, Bayne did not give an exact date. Instead, he only said that it is expected to reach the market in the next several months.

However, thanks to this, a report suggests that the Pixel 3 and 3 XL will have it (both phones are said to come this October), thus gaining a huge advantage compared to other flagship Android smartphones that have been released. This is aside from the turbocharged internals, Android P out of the box and a new camera capable of taking incredible pictures that both phones are expected to also have.

The OS

Speaking of the Android P, this OS was first announced on March 7, 2018, and its first developer preview was also released on the same day. Meanwhile, the second preview was released on May 8, the third preview (Beta 2) on June 6, and the fourth preview (Beta 3) on July 2.

As for what preview/version of the Android P the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will carry once these two devices are released, a good bet will be the final preview/version. However, without any official announcements from Google, it’s best to take this assumption with a pinch of salt.

The Camera

As for the camera, both devices are reported to feature a dual-module front camera which could rival Samsung S9 and Huawei P20 Pro in terms of capturing photos. In addition to this, greater Portrait Mode shots are on the cards. Meanwhile, for its rear camera, it will be a single-lens snapper which is also expected to be powerful.

Do you think that both devices will come with the Gorilla Glass 6? We would like to hear from you in the comment section below.
