‘Golmaal Again' Zooms Past Rs 300 Crore Mark
Time for Rohit Shetty & team to rejoice as another sequel from the Golmaal franchise “Golmaal Again” entered the prestigious 300 crore club. The film garnered 80 crore plus rupees by the end of its opening week.
Combination of Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgan is amazingly entertaining the moviegoers. Rohit’s movie minted good collection afterward too, in the absence of a tough competitor at the box office. Ranking as the 3rd highest grosser this year, Golmaal Again was termed as a laugh riot and fun riot by Bollywood pandits. Though the movie was facing quite a tough competition with Secret Superstar, starring Aamir Khan.
Golmaal Again, Ghost Comedy
Due to its blotchy plot, the movie received mixed reviews from film critics across Bollywood. Meanwhile, the majority of cine-goers have appreciated the movie, and the box office collection is a legit proof of that. Movie’s performance at home and in the overseas shows that how the combination of Ajay-Rohit Shetty is appreciated by fans.
Golmaal Again also marks the debut of Parineeti Chopra in the gang of Rohit Shetty and others. This time, Golmaal Again has been weaved as a horror comedy starring Ajay Devgan, Tabu, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu and Parineeti Chopra as the ghost girl. The plot of the movie revolves around the mischievous troupe of Ajay Devgan and others finding a ghost. This is Shetty’s maiden effort at directing a horror comedy. It has been extensively shot in Hyderabad, unlike its prequels which were shot in Goa.
Journey Of Golmaal Series
The first movie from Golmaal franchise was directed by Rohit Shetty in 2006 starring the complete gang for the first time – Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Khemu, Sharman Joshi and Paresh Rawal with Rimi Sen as the lead actress. Post The first one was an out and out laugh riot. Post the success of his maiden venture, Shetty went on and directed Golmaal Again with the same gang of boys with Kareena Kapoor in lead role.
The movie did well at the box office and was immensely liked by young audiences in India during 2008. Another sequel was launched in 2010, which again had the same star cast and it spelled the same magic with audiences. Interestingly, all the movies had Goa as the backdrop. Rohit Shetty has been a self-confessed fan of this fun-filled state in India for long and thinks that Goa as location works in his favor always. His other movies like All The Best and Singham too have been shot in Goa.

Rohit Shetty as a fine director has constantly appreciated the work of legendary directors like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Manmohan Desai and openly draws inspiration from their work. The result of which is much visible through the Golmaal franchise.
Besides directing the Golmaal series prolifically, Rohit Shetty has directed and produced movies like Chennai express, Dilwale, Singham, Bol Bachchan, All The Best etc. which have done well among the Indian audiences. His direction technique and inspiration has been fairly unique from his contemporaries. Recently, in an interview, he found admitting to working with Ranveer Singh, while showed a keen interest in working with actors of the new generation – Varun Dhawan, Prabhas of the Bahubali fame. With this, we can surely be prepared for many more fun-filled flicks coming on our way.
